Giving Hope, Women's Giving Circle Summer Social Recap

Giving Hope, Women's Giving Circle Summer Social Recap

What a Celebration it was to Get Back to Giving Hope!!

47 Guests gathered at the Summer House venue, part of Fox Hills Golf Center. The warm summer evening was filled with wine, food and some shopping fun of which all the proceeds went into our traditional Giving Hope pass the purse collection.
Member Kay Warnke brought  a wonderful and large selection of her handmade bags, purses, aprons, and other items - and ladies were able to select their favorites and "buy" them. Through those sales and other donations Giving Hope, Women's Giving Circle raised $1480.00
for The Clean Love Project. This organization provides hygiene products to women who are homeless or the victims of trafficking and other abuse. Founder Lacey Catarino and President Shelly Hein joined us and explained how and why the Clean Love Project was started, how much it has grown since its inception in 2015 and what a powerful impact it has had on the community. I believe all of us who heard their story were moved by these special, giving women and so grateful that we of Giving Hope, Women's Giving Cirle could contribute to their efforts.

Former Giving Hope Board Chair Joan Noricks was a special guest at our event. We were ao happy Joan joined us and were incredibly pleased to announce the new scholarship fund, organized by the CCF/LIA, named in honor of Joan's late husband Dennis.
The Dennis Noricks Memorial Scholarship Fund will support a student needing support to enter the wood working profession. Wood working was a personal passion of Dennis's , and this is a wonderful legacy to share with others.
Giving Hope, Women's Giving Circle Summer Social event attendees donated $737.00 to the fund. Thank you to all for sharing our spirit of generosity and getting this fund off to a solid start!

I also would like to happily announce and welcome the three new members who joined Giving Hope, Women's Giving Circle just after the event! Thank you for joining us Hannah Heebner, Lisa Krahel, and Gina Franciosa!! We are delighted you are part of our circle and look forward to getting to know you!

Please watch for details about our future events!
Best wishes for a wonderful rest of the summer!
Linda Demmer - Advisory Board Chairwoman.

Community Foundation of Plymouth makes a significant donation for Mental Health Research

Community Foundation of Plymouth makes a significant donation for Mental Health Research

The gift from the Anthony G. Sclabassi Memorial Fund will provide philanthropic support of mental health programs at the University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry. A majority of the funds are ultimately going to be used to support innovative research in the prevention and treatment of depression, bipolar and other mood disorders and will be leveraged into bigger grant dollars.  Additional funds will be used to support the Psychiatry Education and Outreach Gift Fund which will allow for educational programming and outreach for patients and their families, community members, students, educators, health care providers and others touched by mental illness and addiction disorders in an effort to spread awareness and reduce stigma associated with mental illness.
